We like to share our Harvest thanksgiving with people who can’t be with us today by distributing gifts of flowers. Can you help tomorrow, 18 September? Margaret Snelling urgently needs your support. Please see her today.
This year’s Harvest Appeal focuses on chicken farming in Zimbabwe, which resonates with us following Revd Freddie Takavarasha’s inspiration. Envelopes are in the pews today; the money raised will go towards helping people in a desperately poor part of Africa to tackle poverty, and will provide for their needs.
Change of date: Please note that the Worship Committee meeting planned for Monday 18 September will now take place this Wednesday, 20 Sept at 7.30.
We look forward to another Bulb Sale this Saturday, 23 September, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm at Chapel Field Road. The proceeds will be divided between The Vidiyal Trust and the funding of a solar-powered water pump for a drought-ridden area in Northern Kenya.
The Methodist Women in Britain District Day will be in Ely on Wednesday 11 October, when Ruth Arnold will be commissioned as the new District President. The speaker will be Bishop Everald Galbraith from Jamaica. A coach will pick up from Chapel Field Road at 8.20 am; the fare is £10.00. Please contact Margaret Snelling as soon as possible to book your seat.
Because of a lack of staff for our Junior Church, for the time being sessions will be reduced to one a month, provided that there is a volunteer to help with safe-guarding. Today our Harvest Festival is Together in Worship, when all ages will be included in the morning service. The next Junior Church sessions will be on 24 September, 8 October and 29 October, provided that there is an adult to help with safeguarding, and Together in Worship on 15 October. Please spread the word about this. If you can volunteer to help with the Junior Church, please see Frances Middleton or Linda Ross as soon as possible.
