From the Notices: 1 July 2018

v The funeral service of Brenda Winspear will take place this Wednesday, 4 July, at 12.30 pm at Earlham Crematorium. We shall remember Brenda and her family in our prayers.

v On Wednesday 18 July at 7.00 pm Revd Jacqui Horton will present an illustrated talk on The Life of Jane Austen at Chapel Field Road, arranged by the Circuit Methodist Women in Britain Committee in aid of the World Mission Fund. Admission will be £5.00, with Bring and Share refreshments. Parking will be available at Bignold School.

v The Friends of Cromwell House will be holding their annual Garden Party on Saturday 21 July at 2.30 pm, with stalls and games to enjoy, and teas and ices to refresh you. Everybody is welcome to join in the fun.

v Also on 21 July, beginning at 2.00 pm at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse Museum, is a District event celebrating The Life and Achievements of George Edwards. Born in Marsham, Norfolk, in 1850, he was a Primitive Methodist who rose from abject poverty and illiteracy to found the Agricultural Workers’ Union in 1906 and in its first year cycled over 6,000 miles to meetings. Later he became a magistrate and an MP, and was awarded the OBE. He was knighted in 1930. The theme of the afternoon is Women in Agriculture. See the poster in the Church Centre for details.

v The 34th Norwich Girl Guides would like to thank everyone who supported the coffee morning and craft sale on 16 June. We raised around £120 for the Guides to participate in a large international Scout and Guide camp at the Norfolk showground in August. A further £40 raised selling fudge will support one of the adult leaders to travel to the Maldives in July for a Guiding development project.

v Many of you supported Jacob Alderton on his recent sponsored swim to raise money for new gym equipment in his school. Thanks to your generosity he raised a wonderful sum of £150. We congratulate him on this great achievement.

v The July edition of Contact, our Church magazine, is out today. Do ask the Pew Stewards for your copy. Items for the August edition should be with Pauline Mann by 15 July.

v You’re invited to join with other churches in praying this week for our own Church, here at Chapel Field Road, and for the shopping world in our city.
