From the notices 29 July 2018

On Saturday 4 August do come to a Strawberry Tea from 2.00 – 5.00 pm at the home of Lynette and Dudley Watts in Stoke Holy Cross. What better way to spend a summer afternoon? Their address is: Castle Acre, Brickle Loke (off Brickle Road), Upper Stoke Holy Cross, NR14 8NF. Parking will be available at St. George’s Hall, Upper Stoke Holy Cross, near the crossroads at the top of Brickle Road. For those with mobility problems parking will be available close to their house in Brickle Loke. Donations to The Vidiyal Trust will be appreciated.

 Once again we shall be taking part in the annual Norfolk Churches Trust Sponsored Cycle Ride and Walk, which encourages people to visit historic churches in and around the city. The event will be on Saturday 8 September (not as advertised in Contact), between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm. Half of the proceeds are donated to the Trust; our half will be given to our Overseas Mission Project, currently The Vidiyal Trust, which supports the work of Revd Pat Atkinson amongst the destitute, elderly and children suffering from cancer in the slums of Madurai. Forms and details are available from Sandra Brown.

 A date for your diary: on Saturday 22 September The Gwalia Male Voice Choir will give a concert at Chapel Field Road to celebrate the life of Carolyn Phillips, a former President of Norwich Welsh Society, who died last December. Tickets at £10 are on sale from Megan or Tony Davies (451073); proceeds will be given to The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

 The August edition of Contact, our Church magazine, is out today. Do ask the Pew Stewards for your copy. Items for the September edition should be with Pauline Mann by 19 August.

 A big thank you to all who helped at, and supported, the recent Garden Party at Cromwell House. We had a wonderful day and raised the amazing sum of £812 for the Amenity Fund, at the latest count.

 The amount raised through the recent MHA envelope collection was £241.00. Thank you for your generous support of this organisation which is particularly dear to us because Cromwell House is a part of our Church family.

v You’re invited to join with other churches in praying this week for Norwich Central Baptists, and for the Nightclubs in our city.

All my hope on God is founded;

he doth still my trust renew.

Me through change and chance he guideth,

only good and only true.

God unknown,

he alone

calls my heart to be his own.
