This evening at 6.00 pm for 6.30 our evening service will be held in the Church and will take the form of music and devotions from Taizé, a peaceful sequence of devotional readings and prayers, interspersed with simple chants in the style with which we have become familiar through our morning worship. From 6.00 pm there will be a chance to sing through the chants informally, to get to know them. We welcome visitors from other churches in the city who will be joining us. Refreshments will follow the service.
The January issue of Contact, our Church magazine, is out now. Do ask the Pew Stewards for your copy. Items for the February issue should be with Pauline Mann by next Sunday, 20 January.
The annual Chain of Prayer for Christian Unity will take place in St Luke’s Chapel, Norwich Cathedral, on Thursday 24 January from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. The theme will be “Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue.” (Deut. 16: 18-20). Chapel Field Road will be leading the prayers from 12.15 – 12.30 pm; Revd Debbie Caulk will be there with participatory prayers which we can join in.
The annual District Songs of Praise at Thursford is on the afternoon of Sunday 24 March. If you’d be interested in riding together on a coach from Chapel Field Road, please contact Terry Dunning as soon as possible on 01603 762114 or email@example.com.
Thank you for your generous donations over the Christmas period to the Norwich Foodbank, which have helped to make Christmas special for many individuals and families in crisis. The need goes on; do keep your donations coming, using the shopping list overleaf as a guide. You’re invited to join other churches in praying this week for Norwich Cathedral and for the schools in our city, their students, teachers, staff and governors.
This bitter night
Orion glitters like a string
In the Cathedral
darkness flickering candles
kindle the fire
dies away, never
A voice in the
silence: ‘Wear love and loyalty
like a necklace.
Let it lie always
close to your heart.’
This is the grace of love.
