We continue to mourn the death of Lynette Collier. Her funeral will take place at St Faith’s Crematorium at 11.00 am on 5 April, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving for her life at Chapel Field Road. We pray for her family.
Following the cyclone in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique thousands of people are stranded by catastrophic flooding, clinging to roofs or stuck in trees. Aid workers in Mozambique report there are only two or three days of clean water left in the devastated city of Beira. The Disasters Emergency Committee say that their members are working closely with national organisations to deliver emergency shelter kits, food, water purification tablets and medical help. Please help if you can; there will be a retiring collection after the service. If you wish to Gift Aid your donation, please place it in one of the yellow envelopes and write DEC on it.
Advance warning: there will be road repairs taking place adjacent to the Church next Sunday, 31 March, from 4.00 pm until 6.00 am on Monday 1 April, and again on Monday evening, 1 April, from 7.00 pm until 6.00 am on Tuesday 2 March. Access to the Church will be maintained from the St Stephens Roundabout; leaving will be via St Stephens Square onto St Stephens Road.
LENT 2019: Self-denial envelopes are available in the pews today to enable us to make a donation for the World Mission Fund. The Church is working alongside people in some of the poorest countries in the world, providing medical care, education, redevelopment and theological training.
Thursford Songs of Praise this afternoon: the coach will leave Chapel Field Road at 1.20 pm and return at 5.00 pm.
Lent Groups are meeting from 11.00 am until 12 noon on Saturdays up to and including 13 April (but not on 30 March). The theme is Living fruitfully.
Also on these Saturdays from 12.15 pm until 1.15 is a group Preparing for Church Membership. Revd Debbie Caulk can provide details of these groups.
At 7.30 pm tomorrow, Monday 25 March, invited by Christian Aid, Brother Sam of the Franciscan Order will be speaking about Seeing the world in a different way in the Weston Room at Norwich Cathedral. Admission is free. Brother Sam is well known for his wisdom, teaching and guidance. There will also be a short talk about Christian Aid Week (12 – 18 May).
MWiB’s Spring District Day will be held at Dereham Methodist Church this Thursday, 28 March, 11.00 – 4.00, when the speaker will be Rev Debbie Caulk.
