On Christmas morning we need to ensure that we have enough drivers to bring guests to Chapel Field Road, either for the morning service or for lunch afterwards, and also to take them home again later in the day. Please consider whether you could help, either on the morning of Christmas Day or in the evening, at around 5.00 pm. Stephen Osborn will be glad to hear from you, either in person or on 01603 426189.
This Thursday, 12 December, at 2.30 pm Cameo will be making their annual visit to Cromwell House to present the Christmas message in word and song.
On Saturday this week, 14 December, you’re warmly invited by Cameo to join them in decorating the Church for the festive season from 10.00 am.
The Norwich Singers are presenting a Carol Concert at Chapel Field Road this Saturday, 14 December, at 7.30 pm. Details are on the Church Centre notice board.
A Celebration for Christmas: at our Gift Service next Sunday, 15 December, we will bring our items for St Martin’s Housing Trust and their Christmas Dinner for 60 residents in their hostels for the homeless in Norwich. Leading our service will be Janice Norman and our special guest Kate Daynes, a Local Preacher, who will be appearing in her capacity as Vice Chair of the Trustees of St Martin’s. The chart at the front of the Church is still here if you have not pledged your gift. Don’t forget to bring it with you next Sunday. Please keep your gifts and donations of money with you and they will be collected during the service – there will be envelopes for your financial donation.
Please note that items for the January 2020 edition of Contact, our Church magazine, should be with Pauline Mann by next Sunday, 15 December.
Following our tradition, the Church Christian Aid Christmas Card is in the Church Centre for you to sign, sending greetings to your friends within our Church community. Please put what you would have spent on cards in one of the small brown envelopes and place it in the offertory. Don’t just leave it by the card, it may disappear – sadly they do sometimes. We are grateful to Rod Moore for the icon which he painted for our card this year.
Elisabeth Traverse is collecting used stamps for the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Please leave a margin around them before you drop them in the box in the Church Centre or give them to her.
We’re invited to join with other churches in praying this week for the Community Churches and for the local media in our city.
Holy Spirit, you give us light in our hearts: Renew us in faith and love. Amen.
Please give items for the Notices to Paul Binney by Wednesday.
