From the Notices: 15th December 2019

 A Celebration for Christmas: at our Gift Service this morning we bring our items for St Martin’s Housing Trust and their Christmas Dinner for 60 residents in their hostels for the homeless in Norwich. Janice Norman is leading our morning worship and we welcome our special guest Kate Daynes, a Local Preacher, who is here in her capacity as Vice Chair of the Trustees of St Martin’s. Please keep your gifts and donations of money with you; they will be collected during the service. There are envelopes for your financial donations.

 Please note that items for the January 2020 edition of Contact, our Church magazine, should be with Pauline Mann today.

 The Thanksgiving Service for the life of Jean Mears will be held on Thursday 19 December at Wymondham Methodist Church at 12.30 pm. We continue to remember the members and friends of Morley Chapel in our thoughts and prayers.

 Following our tradition, the Church Christian Aid Christmas Card is in the Church Centre for you to sign, sending greetings to your friends within our Church community. Please put what you would have spent on cards in one of the small brown envelopes and place it in the offertory. Don’t just leave it by the card, it may disappear – sadly they do sometimes. We are grateful to Rod Moore for the beautiful icon he has painted, which is our card in the Church Centre this year.

 Revd Andy Burrows will be joining us as our Minister and Circuit Superintendent in September 2020. An ordained minister with the Salvation Army in 1994, he was ordained within the Methodist Connexion in 2010. He is currently Minister of Lincoln Bailgate Methodist Church. His wife Ruth and son Theo will be accompanying him; we look forward to welcoming them all and getting to know them.

 Elisabeth Traverse is collecting used stamps for the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Please leave a margin around them before you drop them in the box in the Church Centre, or give them to her.

 We’re invited to join with other churches in praying this week for the Redundant Churches and for the inter-faith links in our city.

God came and lives among us as a human being
in order to show his great love for us and for all his people.
His amazing gift of himself invites a response from us.
As we bring our gifts today, let us ask him into our lives
this Christmas, so that we may know his peace
and his blessing. Amen.
